who has commanded us on the washing of the hands.

In addition, before working with clients in my healing space, I place my hands in the shape of a /shin, the position of the priestly benediction on top of the four-letter Name inlaid in the wings of a stone dragonfly (as shown in Image 36). I set my intention and ask that the healing come from the highest sources. I recite the traditional Jewish invocation of the archangels modified to include the presence of the Shechina over my head, in my essence, and beneath my feet.

I recite the Sh’ma (Chapter 20), and a personal Hebrew blessing of the hands that I composed, roughly translated as “Source of blessing, please bless my hands with the light of a pure and loving heart.”

To close a session, I draw figure-eights of love over the client from head to toe and back up again while reciting Ana B’Koach (Chapter 24) and/or the priestly benediction (Numbers 6:24–26).

This is my personal practice for opening and closing a healing session. Feel free to modify the ideas presented in this chapter or perhaps create a heart-centered blessing that fills your individual needs.

Be conscious of the power of your hands and the sacred work they can do.
